Malema, the former ANC Youth League leader, has been a constant presence in the press in recent weeks over his rabble rousing of miners throughout South Africa.

Immediately after launching the most recent political attack against Zuma at rallies held by discontented miners Friday, Malema was the subject of an arrest warrant for fraud and money laundering in connection with a contract awarded for road services in his home province of Limpopo.

According to reports, the proceeds of the infrastructure contract, worth 52 million rand, helped fund a Mercedes Benz and a farm purchased by Malema.

While the timing of the warrant may not be coincidence, Malema’s penchance for luxury is well known. He is the subject of a separate tax investigation and owns property far beyond the value of his wages.
